Essay 'Kill to eat'
In the story "Kill to eat", I could analyse in different aspects the coming of age.
As the brothers grow up, their rights were different, and also is taking into account the position of the eldest brother.
He was the most respected, and for example when he decided to kill the kookaburra no one of the youngest brothers told him not to do it. "We always let him start shooting" is a quote that clearly shows the right of the eldest brother.
As aborigins grow up, they have more responsibilities than before. As the father or older brother, their responsibility was to give the youngest brothers the model that they should follow. Doing the right thing is one of their jobs. Another example is that if they were responsible enough they would make their own weapon. And also, taking the blame of their acts was part of this responsibility that they should take.
As the brothers grew up, they has different rights and responsibilities and also it influenced who the eldest brother was because he was the model.
